𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙏𝙤𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙏𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙤𝙬– Pope John Paul II

It's 2 months into 2023.𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 2020? Why does it seem as I get older time moves faster? Do you feel it too? After 2 years deep in the pandemic that seemed to inch by at a snail’s pace, time seems to be making up for it at supersonic speed.

𝙀𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙚𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙨, 𝙤𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙮𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙮. Same old, same old. We are most driven by how we feel, not what we want. We feel like we want to veg out in front of Netflix (I personally have a Korean drama addiction!). We feel like we want to scroll through Pinterest looking at all the places we dream of going, decorating we wish to do, and the recipes we plan to make. We feel like eating cookies instead of carrots.

𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒐𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑶𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑷𝑬𝑶𝑷𝑳𝑬 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒛𝒐𝒏𝒆? Thinking, "Maybe tomorrow. I still have plenty of time." What will it take to stop the wishing, dreaming and imagining and start the action, doing and achieving?

𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 5 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯:

1. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺. Spend a few minutes each day imagining yourself achieving your goal and then visualize any obstacles that may arise. Then, brainstorm ways to navigate around them so you can be better prepared when they occur.

2. 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿. Share your goals and ask them to check in with you regularly to see how you're progressing. This can help keep you motivated and accountable. (The Hey Girl You Cancommunity has this built-in with our Monday and Friday 8am EST ggoal-settingrooms!)

3.𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲. For example, if your goal is to write a book, set aside a specific time each day to work on it, even if it's just for 10-15 minutes. This will help make progress on your goal a habit.

4. 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲-𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. This could be an online group or an in-person club. Being part of a community can provide support, motivation, and accountability. (Are you just getting Hey Girl You Can emails or are you actually connecting and interacting with our members?)

5. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲. There are many apps and tools available to help you track your progress, set reminders, and stay motivated. For example, you could use a habit-tracking app like Habitica or a task manager like Trello to stay organized and focused. I personally put my most important daily tasks as "all day" events in my google calendar. Highlight them in red and then delete them as a I complete them each day.

Remember, taking action toward your goals is the key. It's not enough to wait until we FEEL like it. 𝑾𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑩𝑬𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑬 𝒘𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒔𝒐 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆!
