At one of our recent Hey Girl You Can panels, Karlyn Ankrom said something that stopped people in their tracks:
You don’t have a content problem. You have a content usage problem.
And you could almost hear the "Ah ha!"
Because most women feel like they’re behind on content.
Like they should be posting more.
Like they need more ideas.
Like everyone else has this figured out.
But when you actually look at what’s going on, that’s usually not the issue.
Think about everything you’ve already created or said:
Conversations with clients
Questions people ask you all the time
Emails you’ve written
Trainings you’ve done
Lessons you’ve learned this week
That’s content.
Most of it just never gets used.
Or it gets used once… and then forgotten.
One of the most useful things she shared was this:
Instead of asking, “What should I post today?”
Ask, “How many ways can I say this one thing?”
That shift alone makes content feel a lot easier.
Let’s say you helped a client get a result.
That’s one idea.
From that, you could create:
A story about what was happening before
A breakdown of what you actually did
A relatable post about the struggle
A post that builds your authority
A post that invites someone to work with you
Same idea. Different angles.
You don’t need five new ideas.
You need to use the one you already have.
It’s not that they don’t have anything to say.
It’s that there’s no structure for how to turn what they know into content.
So it turns into:
Overthinking
Second guessing
Starting something and not finishing it
Or just not posting at all.
When you have a simple way to break an idea down, that pressure goes away.
Another point she made that’s worth paying attention to:
Your content doesn’t just have to be said in one way.
The same idea could be:
A short video
A written post
A quick tip
A story
Different people consume content in different ways.
You’re not repeating yourself — you’re giving more people a chance to hear you.
When you stop trying to constantly come up with something new, everything feels lighter.
You’re not starting from scratch.
You’re building from what’s already there.
And that’s what allows you to actually stay consistent.
Because consistency isn’t about doing more.
It’s about making it easier to show up.
