Why Your Social Media Isn’t Turning Into Clients

April 05, 20262 min read

At one of our recent Hey Girl You Can live panels, we had social media strategist Serafina Valentine break down what actually makes content work.

And what she shared was simple, but it’s where most people get stuck.

You can be showing up consistently on social media and still not be getting results.

I see this all the time.

Women are posting.
They’re putting themselves out there.
They’re trying to stay visible.

And still… nothing is really happening.

No real growth.
No real conversations.
No clients coming from it.

At that point it’s easy to think social media just isn’t working.

What Serafina pointed out is that it’s usually not about effort — it’s about structure.

You’re Posting, But It’s Not Leading Anywhere

A lot of content looks good.

But when you step back and look at it as a whole, there’s no direction.

It’s a mix of:

  • A random tip

  • A personal post

  • Something promotional

  • Then nothing for a few days

When your content feels random, your audience doesn’t know what to do with it.

You Don’t Need More Content, You Need Better Content

One of the biggest takeaways she shared was around posting with purpose.

Before you post, you should know what role that post is playing.

Is it:

  • Teaching something

  • Creating engagement

  • Building connection

  • Entertaining

  • Or leading someone to take action

If you’re not clear on that, your content ends up being easy to scroll past.

Consistency Isn’t the Problem — Structure Is

A lot of people think they just need to be more consistent.

But if you’re constantly trying to figure out what to post, consistency is always going to feel hard.

Serafina talked about the importance of having a plan.

Not overcomplicating it — just knowing what you’re posting and why.

That alone changes everything.

If You’re Not Looking at Your Numbers, You’re Guessing

Another point she made that stuck with me — your analytics tell you what’s working.

You can see:

  • What people are engaging with

  • What they’re clicking

  • What’s actually starting conversations

If something is working, do more of it.
If it’s not, adjust.

What This Comes Down To

She broke it down into three simple ideas:

Post with a purpose
Post with a plan
Post with a payoff

When those three things are in place, your content starts to feel more focused.

And more importantly, it starts to actually support your business.

Because the goal isn’t just to post.

It’s to build something that leads somewhere.
